Cal at Stanford, 28 January 2012

Scott Uyeno

First in the email was Scott with 35 shots of action at the North basket in a flickr set including this of sisters on D:

Michael Li

Next in was Michael Li who posts 20 shots in a flickr set including pics of Oskie, a cheerleader in mid-flip, "King" Conner doing a half-court shot, the t-shirt cannon-bot, and oh yeah, a little basketball including this of the overtime tip-off:

Bryan Adachi

Third in order of email receipt is a link from Bryan who posts 43 photos to a Picasa gallery, with portraits of Oskie and Jim Harbaugh, Kate and Tara, and action of both Ogwumikes, and this moment of Amber dishing off a steal to Jos:

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin says this was "an off-day" but still posted 58 pics to her Smugmug gallery. Maybe an off-day, but there are six consecutive shots that leap off the screen, starting with this one:

Dave Cortesi

We posted a few pics to Smugmug including two different layups by Toni, and this of intern Liz Rizzo talking to the fans while Lauren Greif checks her pager:

Lily Wong

Yay! Another new contributor! Long-time FBC member Lily Wong takes pictures from the West side and has posted 15 shots to a Kodak Gallery including this of Toni on a layup:

Scott Uyeno

Scott posted a batch of action under the North-end basket to His Flickr set with Chiney and Nneka on offense and defense, but this one of Amber jumps out:

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin sends along "my latest installment of the Ogwumike show. I still can't believe that Maples isn't sold out every game just to see Nneka play this last year." Her Smugmug gallery include a lot of Nneka at work, and Jos and Chiney, but this one of Leapin' Lindy makes a good teaser:

Michael Li

Michael posts 18 shots to a Flickr set with several shots of Amber in action, Toni, Jos, and Sara, plus this nice study of The Sisterhood:

Dave Cortesi

We posted 25 pics to a Smugmug gallery with a bit of action, cheerleaders, teeny girl dancers, Alex Green at the postgame, and a highly artistic (but really accidental) interpretation of Amber running the point:

Bryan Adachi

A new contributor! Bryan is unique among our contributors in shooting from the West side of Maples. And he often gets great "head shots"—face portraits of players and staff. In this Picasa gallery he shows his pics from the Tennessee game, with a series of great head shots of Pat Summitt, and his pics from the recent Washington State game, where he used depth-of-field to get this study of Jos Tinkle:

Click through the gallery for the Summitt studies and (Mrs. La Rocque take note!) a devastatingly adorable study of Lindy. She'll hate it; we love it.

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin posts a bunch of crisp action shots to her Smugmug gallery, with Lindy, Jos, even "Cyclops Tree" in action, but mostly featuring Ogwumikes, like this of Nneka completing a steal:

Michael Li

You see the above shot of Nneka with a steal? Michael Li caught almost the same instant. Find it in his Flickr set along with Amber in a tangle, Taylor launching a three, and this of Bonnie doing the same:

Scott Uyeno

Scott posts 28 shots to his Flickr set with Toni forcing a held ball, Bonnie in the act of shooting a three, and this one of Sarah getting a block:

Dave Cortesi

I got just one pic worth showing: a set-to-continuous sequence of Sara hurling a Victory Ball. I'll just drop it here; click to embigify. Nice pitching form, James.

OSU at Stanford, 7 January 2012

Scott Uyeno

Shooting as usual from the NE end, Scott posts 25 shots to his Flickr stream. He caught several players in action, notably Jos, Chiney and Nneka:

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin posts 38 shots to a Smugmug gallery, with a dog, the tree, and tons of action under the south basket, including this of Jos scoring in double coverage:

Michael Li

Michael says he was "too busy watching a game that was much closer than expected" to take many pictures but he did post a handful to a Flickr set including a "set to continuous" sequence of "Tree Attacks Beaver" (like a man bites dog story, get it?) of which this is one frame:

For a bonus, though, you can check out his Fiesta Bowl shots.

Dave Cortesi

We posted a handful of pictures to our Smugmug gallery, a little action but mainly the postgame talk featuring Nneka and Susan Borchardt:

Oregon at Stanford, 5 January 2012

Scott Uyeno

Scott posts 23 shots to his Flickr gallery including shots of Taylor and Bonnie launching threes, Toni distributing the ball, Nneka at work, plus this one of Chiney and Jos working on a rebound:

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin, whose email got to us at 11:52, just 8 minutes after Scott's—people working late to get these pictures to you, readers!— posted 32 pics to her Smugmug gallery, with a splendid array of team interaction and floor action. One of the first is this, about which a tale follows:

In the first half I was thinking, "rebound shots" and trying to catch rebounds at the south end, but after a bit I put my camera in my lap and just watched the game, at which point Nneka leaps up to make the spectacular rebound shown above. "I coulda had that picture!" I screamed to my wife. And my next thought was, "Hope Baranduin got it..." Hey, no fear.

Michael Li

No fear, indeed! Michael Li was there, too, and here's the first shot in his Flickr set:

It's the same instant to nearly the millisecond! Isn't that neat?

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin wrapped up the year and her weekend in L.A. by posting 32 shots from the Bruins' temporary gym to her Smugmug gallery. Lots of good action. This one jumps out of the first row; check the air under Toni's feet:

Girl got some hops. Oh, and speaking of hops,...

Go browse the gallery for more, including Nneka, Sarah, Bonnie, Erica, Jos...

Stanford at USC, 28 December 2011

Baranduin Briggs

Baranduin was in L.A. for this weekend and posted 30 shots to SmugMug with lots of action, primarily of Nneka, like this:

or like this,

Plus, she got Bonnie starting her quick-release, which none of us had done to date.

The TV commentator dissed Bonnie's shot style ("Not a thing of beauty"). Hope nobody tells her to change it.
